The work of Dirk Braeckman is highly subjective and avoids the conventional rules we recognize in classic documentary photography. His images are intriguing and suggestive and show us the darker side of the everyday. He discovers us empty spaces and shadow sites, mostly in dark black and white. Often without human presence, his creations transmit the nostalgis atmosphere typical of hotel rooms or abandoned ballrooms. The edition made for LOODD is an image selected of his private archive and has this strange bittersweet taste that defines his style.
