Stefan Brüggemann

Edition of 240 (10 AP)

Stefan Brüggemann created as limited edition a beach towel or yoga mat. On its abstract coloured surface seeming to remember a sunset or a burning fire, a text is printed in the artist’s iconic typeset. It is not clear if it are instructions for use or suggestions inspiring both action, reaction and relaxation. The statement is ambiguous enough to be open to multiple interpretations. It can also be seen as the artcollector's perfect private refuge, where he feels surrounded by conceptually attractive words. It makes one imagine how it would be to dry your body with the thoughts of Lawrence Weiner, or to make love on a surface full of intellectual rethorica. Or a picknick in the company of Barbara Kruger.

Stefan Brüggemann

As in much of Brüggemann’s work, the relationship between language and image is a central concern. At times the text dominates the foreground, whilst at others it gives the appearance of being partially buried in the painted field.
